About Autism Academy

Social Masking, Consent, Language, Sensory Processing:

Our aim at Autism Academy is to make short videos about all these things and more!
Some things about autism rarely get spoken about and we plan to explain them from an autistic perspective.
As autistic individuals one of the biggest challenges we face is being understood and making learning fun is our way of changing that.

Autism Academy Confused Light Bulb

Loren Snow

CEO

  • Loren Snow Website

I'm Loren Snow an Autistic Public Speaker.

I've spoken on podcasts, radio, to large crowds and small classes.

I've taught hundreds of parents of autistic and ADHD children and teach regular courses to parents
and autistic people.

I decided to make Autism Academy as I see many autistic people struggling to understand themselves, and many parents lost on what to believe.
I think that Autism Academy can help people to understand and encourage others to learn about autism.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHY DO WE DO THIS?

Being autistic we know how important it is for others to understand us.
We believe that with better understanding of autism everyone in society benefits.

WHERE ARE WE BASED?

We are based in the UK but our videos are made for the benefit of everyone.
They’re only in English right now but hopefully one day they’ll be in other languages too.

WHAT IS OUR VISION?

Right now we’re focused on animated videos but in future, we’d like to make them into comics or books, and maybe have a store selling plushie light bulbs.

ARE WE ALL AUTISTIC?

Yes and no.
We can’t guarantee every person who advertises, donates, or supports us in some way is.

WHY DO WE USE IDENTITY
FIRST LANGUAGE?

We use "Identity-first Language” rather than “Person-first Language” because we believe we can’t be separated from autism; it’s a part of us just as we can’t be separated from the colour of our skin.

WHY DO WE SAY AUTISM
SPECTRUM CONDITION?

We say “Autism Spectrum Condition” and not “Autism Spectrum Disorder”; because the term “Disorder” implies that something is broken while “Condition” implies a difference.
